1. Inokashira Senbei (Rice Cracker) ¥121/cracker (Soy Source Taste)

[Inokashira Senbei], an establishment known for the distinct shape of its hanging racks, began as the Komino Senbei Shop in 1905. The Senbei became famous as a local specialty named after its birthplace, but the shop closed its business in 1957.
Decades later, the Tokyu Department Store, Kichijoji Shop wanted to produce a product to memorialize its 30th year anniversary. When it voiced its plan to the neighborhood in 2004, the department store learned of the existence of Inokashira Senbei. A limited quantity of the new Senbei quickly sold out, and the Senbei was reintroduced as a regular product in the coming summer.
The Senbei crackers are baked manually one by one at Hanami-Senbei located at the south exit of Kichijoji Railroad Station.

2. Ironeko no te ¥230/piece

Pâtisserie Infini on the first floor of Kichijoji Daiichi Hotel sells pâtissier cakes and bread baked at the hotel. Ironeko no te was launched when chef pâtissier Koichi Nakamura started working in the shop in 2015, wanted to make "a local specialty," and collected recipes from the bakery at the affiliated Hotel New Hankyu Osaka. Almond dacquoise dough sandwiches brown-rice buttercream in the shape of cats' paws and chocolate is used to create the pads. 3. Kichijoji-Age ¥226 for Shrimp/Scallop; ¥162 for Cheese/Squid

Satsuma-Age Specialty Shop founded in 1950: Satsuma-Age and about 50 other oden ingredients are lined up at the shopfront.
The producers of Kichijoji-Age began making the product 5 years ago in the expectation that young men in the neighborhood would eagerly consume their delicious starchy offerings. Ingredients such as cheese, scallops, shrimp, and squid are mixed into a fish paste and fried. The seasonal menu includes ingredients such as oyster in winter, asparagus in spring, and other seasonal fare. People of all kinds love the crispy, light-texture of the Satsuma-Age. Many people buy them takeout to snack on them as they walk. The daily production of 500 ~ 600 pieces often sells out.

Uniqlo Kichijoji, a pioneer that became Japan's first local-based store. At the UTme! corner on the 7th floor, you can make original t-shorts using letters in the shape of people (the Kinshio font) created exclusively for the store by Kichijoji-based illustrator Kin Shiotani. You do this by first placing an order that "I want to make a Kinshio UTme!" at the 7th-floor UTme! corner. Next, you pick your favorite Kinshio font characters on an iPad that you can borrow and place them freely. It is then printed there and then. It can take as little as 10 minutes. Kichijoji Matsuhiro is a Chinese restaurant in its 18th year. Kichijoji Chili Oil with Gold Foil blends 20 kinds of spices and condiments, including Sakai chili pepper from Sakai, Musashino. The result is richness and abundant flavor. Unlike the regular chili oil sold in stores, this is not just spicy, but is characterized by an inimitable fullness, umami, and sharp spiciness. The gold foil came from Kichijoji's gorgeous image and wanting people to dash a lot of it. It has been gaining attention, also appearing for order in a well-known magazine. 6. Coffee Daifuku ¥172/piece

Kobaido is a Japanese-style confection store founded in 1968. It began selling its famous Coffee Daifuku 20 year ago. Coffee Daifuku is made with three layers: coffee, a white bean paste, and premium fresh cream wrapped in a sticky rice skin (rice pounded thin in a mortar) containing coffee extract. The coffee flavor spreads through the whole mouth with just one bite. The cake is sold frozen and defrosts in 1 to 2 hours, depending on the season. The soft Daifuku goes well with not only Japanese tea, but also coffee and black tea. The more popular products publicized by media and magazines can be purchased online.

7. Sakai Red Peppers; Kichijoji's Magical Sprinkle Seasoning ¥680/bottle

The Magical Kichijoji Furikake made by Chinese restaurant Kichijoji Matsuhiro blends a variety of spices and condiments, such as chili peppers from Musashisakai as well as broad bean chili paste, white sesame seeds, Sichuan pepper, ginger, cinnamon, and star anise. The spices are first stir-fried in oil, after which the oil is completely squeezed out over a couple of days so that it becomes all dry. Everything is homemade, with even the white sesame seeds toasted and seasoned from raw. It is an item that requires advanced technique and labor as heat levels and stir-fry times are sure to test the artisan's skills. Sprinkling just a bit of this furikake on rice will let you enjoy the textures, smells, and flavors of many spices.

8. Hand-Dyed Wash Cloth [Swan Boat], [Elephant] ¥1,375/piece

The Hand-Dyed Wash Cloth Shop [Tomozo Head Shop] sells wash cloths crafted by a single person up to the finishing touches.
The "Swan Boat" motif depicts an Inokashira Park scene with boats floating on a pond in green hues. The Elephant Hanako motif represents the elephant in Inokashira Park Zoo. Elephant forms walking in a row express emotional attachment and a sense of buoyancy.

The Harmonaka, in the shape of a harmonica, was planned and developed by Lead Engineering, a Kichijoiji-based company developing electric machinery. President Kenichi Nakayama says that the start of the joint development came when he met with President Yoshio Teraoka of Kichijoji Toraya and they felt they wanted to create a Kichijoji speciality. During the product development, they placed a custom order of monaka in the shape of harmonicas, inspired by the street Harmonica Yokocho. The monaka has a crunchy texture. The filling is white bean paste mixed with lemon juice and black tea, creating the invigorating effect of lemon tea. Even those who don't normally like bean paste can eat it without problem. 6 pcs 972 yen.

11. Musashi-no-Kuni: Rice Castella (MUBUS Package) ¥951/Box

A patisserie established in 1990. The shop name represents the spirit of home in Paris, France. About 70 ~ 80 types of goods, from material sticking unbaked cake to baked goods, chocolates, and breads are sold.
[Musashi-no-Kuni Rice Castella] was produced to boost the national demand for rice about Japan 10 years ago. The unique feeling on the tongue is realized by grinding locally made rice into a fine powder using a special manufacturing process and adding butter using a western confectionery technique. Pâtisserie A.K Labo sells traditional French and local sweets. Musashino Diosablé was created five years ago from the wish of "wanting to create something local" and is ordered for Musashino memorial ceremonies and other events. It's a crispy, fragrant sable that mixes rye flour in fermented butter, a reserved sweetness ideal for teatime. The surface is imprinted with bird's-eye views of famous locations in Musashino and the back of the label has an explanation as well, so you can learn while eating. They used to grow a lot of wheat because the soils of the Musashino area were unsuitable for rice cultivation in former days. The people also often used Udon made with locally grown wheat in ceremonial functions and the like.

Bonjour Bon Kichijoji is in Dia-Gai, Kichijoji. Their hallmark product Maple Melon Bread is a popular one; as many as 500 might get sold in a day. The baked dough wraps around a generous serving of homemade maple butter that blends maple syrup and butter; biting into it will fill your mouth with delicious syrup. The secret behind the balance between fluffiness and moist is an extra 30 minutes of fermentation time to let the butter seep into the dough.
